WHAT IS A TERMITE INSPECTION?
During a termite inspection, the inspector will spend around one or two hours thoroughly checking your entire property for visible signs of termite infestation, including things like damaged wood, mud tubes, broken wings, and termite droppings.
THE TERMITE INSPECTION PROCESS
If possible, plan on being home during the inspection to give the termite inspector access to the entire property, including the house, attic, garage, crawl space, and any other structures you want to be inspected. If some of these areas are cluttered, you may need to do some prep work before the inspector arrives.
After the inspection, the technician will report on what they found, how they can eliminate the termites if found, and give you a quote for any needed treatment.

WHAT TERMITE INSPECTORS LOOK FOR
Termites are experts at hiding, but termite inspectors know exactly what to look for. They’ll search for things like:
Wood damage
Wood that’s been damaged by termites sounds hollow when you knock on it – not a good sound if the termites have damaged structural joints. The inspector may use a screwdriver to check wood for termite tunnels.
Mud tubes
Only subterranean termites create mud tubes, but these narrow passageways – about the width of a pencil and made of soil and wood – are a sure sign you have an infestation.
Live termites
Difficult to spot and tricky to tell apart from ants, inspectors may find and identify live termites that are absolute proof of an infestation.
Frass
Another word for termite droppings, the inspector may find these tiny, oval-shaped granular pellets by windowsills, door frames, and baseboards.
